The Scanyacht history began nearly 30 years ago when in 1975 the first
LM 27 wheelhouse sailing cruiser was introduced into the U.K.. In all
that time Scanyachts remained the only agent for the U.K. and Eire
appointed by LM Glasfiber of Denmark. Scanyachts didn’t then know how important the LM 27 was to become, for worldwide she became the most successful boat of her class with LM building over 1500. The founders of Scanyachts, David and Lorna Love purchased the mould tools from LM of Denmark (when LM moved from building boats to manufacturing GRP wind turbine blades) and the LM 27 is still in production, named the Scanyacht 290 with the numbers now approaching 1600. To Benefit from the lower production costs of the 'Euro' based mainland of Europe, production has now been transferred to Scanyachts of Holland, a division of Blauwe Boei and Volent, so the Scanyacht 290 gains from reduction in price without any reduction in quality |
